In the News: Leveraging the Arts as a Community Development Strategy!

We are proud to have one of our tactical urbanism projects featured on KATU news in Portland, OR. This project involved combining a bi-monthly street fair with a large scale mural project and a BIPOC-focused pop up art gallery. The synergistic impact from these three simultaneous interventions substantially increased customer foot traffic in a key retail node and it serves as an example as to how we approach tactical urbanism interventions (Click on the icon to the left to view the news story).

Project lead and proprietor Daniel Klinkert MUP LCSW recently spent two years traveling the country doing 2-3 month stays in diverse urban locations across the United States. This journey inspired Daniel to reimagine certain locations through leveraging identified strengths. Projects include urban design and data analysis in Salt Lake City, UT, Winston-Salem NC, and Detroit, MI. Design work was completed by Natalie Price. You can view these exploratory projects here:

In the News: Our Post Covid Activation Plan for the Old Town/Chinatown District is featured in Bike Portland Magazine!

We are happy to share an article featuring our post-COVID activation planning work in Portland, OR. The Old Town/Chinatown District was hit especially hard by pandemic related impacts and this plan seeks to leverage a variety of strengths to help move the neighborhood forward. This plan was a true community effort which included stakeholder input and design work provided by students from the University of Oregon School of Architecture and Environment which is located inside of the district.
